I found this in my backyard and it is a whole month before the next meeting! I read that there is a dangerous lookalike to this mushroom. Cutting it in half, it showed almost no bluing, but pressing on the pores, they turned blue instantly. It is such a yummy looking mushroom and I really want to eat it. Don't worry, I have the sense not to. Just barely.

yes there are lots of boletes out there right now, but they are a little tricky to identify. Two of the best eatting mushrooms, also happen to be pretty easy to identify, can be found right now: chanterelles and black trumpets. If you really want to know about your bolete, you can take it to Bill Russell who does identifications on monday, 1 pm at websters cafe in state college.
